BDYHAX 2016 – Ketamine-Assisted Therapies in Medical Practice: An Antidote for Stuckness?
Dr Paul Abramson speaks on “Ketamine-Assisted Therapies in Medical Practice: An Antidote for Stuckness?”
Ketamine is being re-discovered in medicine to augment therapies for treatment-resistant disorders. However, a strict psychopharmacologic model has been found to be too limiting and may not be adequate to assess the potential of truly transformative therapies. Dr. Paul Abramson will discuss early results from his team’s use of ketamine-assisted psychotherapy for severe depression, OCD, and PTSD, and ketamine-assisted treatment of chronic pain. He will also review applicable research on ketamine-induced neuroplasticity, and the re-emergence of psychedelics in American medical practice.
